Barbara Armstrong (Kyle)
Passed away peacefully at home, as she wished on Saturday June 23, 2018. Mum was born December 13, 1930, and was the youngest daughter of Robert (1989) & Evelyn Kyle (1990). Her life was shared with her older brothers Robert (1973) & Ted Kyle (2018).
She married the love of her life Robert in 1950 and they had 2 children. Her daughter Betty Finley (Bruce) and son Bruce Armstrong. After Dad passed away suddenly in 1988 Mum would often say our family provided her with a lifetime of memories which she proudly shared whenever given the chance. Her pride and joy was her “dancing” granddaughter Julie Armstrong & sharing 7 years with her grandson Jacob Osborn. “Adopted Mum” too many others throughout the years, including her nieces & nephews especially Terri (Steve) & her great nephew Jamie (Rebecca). Mum had an open door policy and anyone was welcome to sit at her table for dinner.
The things that were most important to Mum were her family, her friends and of course her card games. She approached her recent illness with bravery and grace. She inspired everyone in her life to live each day to the fullest. Even when her health was declining rapidly, she continued to stay positive. Mum believed that there could be no rainbow without a cloud and a storm.
If Mum were here to speak to us she would remind each of us to say something kind to one another, laugh every day and be kind to animals. She appreciated all of the PSW support over the years especially from Pam Wood who treated Mum with dignity and respect for the past 13 years. Thank you Dr. Gillis for entering Mum’s life at the right time and Rose for the home visits. Heartfelt thanks to the Hospice Outreach Team Dr. Singh & Laira as well as VON Nurse Emma. Dr. Lloyd-Smith your compassion for humanity is changing the world we live in and we are grateful.
Friends will be received at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street Burford on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday June 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Mum requested that donations be made to a GoFundMe Page setup for her son Bruce who is awaiting a lifesaving liver transplant and needed assistance for medical expenses. https://www.gofundme.com/liver-transplant-for-bruce
